Welcome to Year 6 for Summer 1 term everyone!
Dear Parents and Carers,
Reflecting on our online learning, we have been extremely proud of Year 6 at HPAPL; most weeks we have had (or been close to) 100% virtual attendance and their engagement in online learning has been phenomenal. The children have shown great patience, tenacity, and hunger for learning.
Due to their enthusiasm and hard work, we did not stop learning new skills, gaining new knowledge and making further progress. We returned to the classroom ready to fly!
To explore and underhand the rich vocabulary in Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, we will start by studying it this half term and writing a narrative based on it. We will then learn our proof reading and editing skills.
In maths, we will be focusing on the properties of shape, as well as ratio and statistics. We will also be revising arithmetic.
Our little scientists will be learning about light and how it works. We are so lucky to have Ms Bahai in every Friday for them!
Excitingly, the children will start to create their own musical compositions, as well as singing Oliver songs and learning tunes on the steel pans.
Children will be learning how to artistically show movement, perspective and working on our set for Oliver.
